Baptism of Our Lord: Pastor Mat Thomas

In this sermon, Pastor Mat preaches from Luke 3:15-22. In Jesus’ baptism, God rips the heavens open, God pushes through the firmament, and then says, “You, yes you, are my beloved.” God says the same thing at each of our baptisms. Because of this we are also called to submit to God’s calling in our lives in response to the grace of Christ that is often revealed in our baptisms.

In Us and Through Us: Pastor Mat Thomas

In this sermon, Pastor Mat continues the journey through Advent by looking at Micah 5:2-5. Pastor Mat reminds us that God is working in us and through us. Wherever you find yourself, God calls you to participate in God’s promised redemption. Micah was longing for one who would bring unity and peace to the world, just as we long for one to come restore the world today. As we prepare for Christmas, we prepare for the one who will come and make all things new.

Giving Yourself Away: Pastor Mat Thomas

In this sermon, Pastor Mat preaches from Luke 3:1-6. He talks about how John the Baptist prepared for the coming of Christ by giving himself away. In a world of shootings, violence, and injustice, we can learn a lot from John the Baptist. In preparing for the coming of the Lord Jesus, he refused to fight for his status, privilege, and rights. He simply gave himself away. Preparing for Christ’s Advent among us must involve giving ourselves away for the sake of others.
